If you’ve been accused of a crime, it may not be surprising to find out that the police are becoming more prominent in daily life due to the rise in violent crime in Colorado.

Violent crime has increased by 27 percent in just three years. For a comparison, look at 2005 and 2017. In 2005, there were 173 murders compared to 220 in 2017. In the last year, murders have increased by six percent.

A Metro State University of Denver’s criminologist stated that crime has been decreasing in Colorado overall. Denver’s crime rate, in particular, is lower than in the early 2000s. The reason for an increase in murders and violent crimes may simply be due to more people being involved in each incident and not necessarily because of there being a higher number of incidents overall.
